Stricken ship sails from Richards Bay
Jan 20, 2003
The dry bulk/tanker ship Inville (ex Joinville), which so nearly went aground off the KwaZulu Natal South Coast near Bazley Beach on New Year’s Eve, finally sailed from the port of Richards Bay on Monday afternoon, 20 January 2003 (see Ports and Ships News reports dated 2, 4 and 9 January).
The ship has been delayed in harbour while undergoing repairs sufficient for her surveyors and class society to issue a certificate of seaworthiness for her final one-way voyage to Alang in India, and not Bangladesh as was previously reported.
Inville sailed from port under her own power at about 16.00, with the Smit Salvage tug Wolraad Woltemade in attendance.
