Port tariff increases

The National Ports Authority of South Africa (NPA) has announced proposed tariff increases to come into effect on 1 April 2003. Full details are available from the NPA website at www.npa.co.za.

A short summary is as follows:

Port and Berth Dues : increase of 6.5 %
Marine Services : increase of 11 %, except for Saldanha Bay where increase is 40 %.
Pilot charges : the reduction for bunker calls of under 48 hours has been reduced from 50 % to 25 %.
Pilotage reduction for berth shifts has been reduced from 75 % to 50 %.
Cargo Dues : Increase is 2 %.
Ship Repair Facilities : General increase 20 %.
Durban Dry and Floating Dock increase of 11 % and 13 % respectively.
Cape Town and East London Dry Dock increase is 262 %. Syncrolift increase at Cape Town is 154 %.
Lighthouse Services : increase of 8 %.
