Durban port twins with Guangzhou Harbour

A Sisterport Agreement is due to be signed between the Ports of Durban and Guangzhou on Friday, 19 September 2003
Almost one year ago, one 22 September 2002 a Memorandum of Intent to a Sisterport Agreement was signed between the Port of Durban and the Guangzhou Harbor Bureau during the visit of Mr Huang Guosheng, Director-General of the Port of Guangzhou, the People's Republic of China to Durban.
The document was to be finalised at the IAPH conference in May 2003, however the SARS epidemic prevented the delegation from visiting South Africa
This Agreement will now be signed on 19 September 2003 at the Emtateni Conference Centre at 08.00.
Mr Basil Ndlovu, Port Manager, Port of Durban will sign on behalf of the Port of Durban.
The Agreement focuses on the promotion of trade and goodwill between the two ports and to develop and expand mutual understanding and to promote greater economic benefits.
