Chinese surveillance tracking ship sails
Oct 4, 2003
The Chinese satellite surveillance ship Yuan Wang 3 slipped out of Durban harbour on Thursday night bound for the West Coast and a rendezvous with a Chinese (possibly manned) space probe.
The ship has listed Cape Town as her next port of call, which will in all likelihood be made after the space launch predicted for sometime after 1 October, China’s week-long national holiday. The ship would take approximately four days to reach her usual station off the Namibian coast suggesting the launch may happen on Tuesday or Wednesday this week.
