Aussies nab another poacher in deep south
Jan 24, 2004
An Australian boarding party from the frigate HMAS Warramunga yesterday (Friday, 23 January) boarded the fishing vessel Maya V which they believe was fishing illegally in Australian protected waters.
The sailors used a helicopter to board the ship after an earlier attempt failed because of rough seas and bad weather. The incident took place near the islands of Heard and McDonlad, some 4,000 km south west of Fremantle.
The fishing vessel is now being escorted to Australia.
