BREAKING NEWS UPDATED - Durban port reopens
Saturday, 12 November 2005: posted at 11.05
After a 12-hour closure due to no pilot transfer boat being available, marine operations at the port of Durban began this morning shortly after 10.30 local time, with the private work boat/launch Infanta serving as the pilot transfer vessel.
The first priority is to sail all eight outstanding ships, beginning with the car carrier Don Carlos and followed by the container ship CSAV Rio Trancura. Once all sailings are completed later today pilots will begin bringing in ships waiting outside.
Meanwhile it is learned that repairs to the NPA pilot boat Tsitsikama have been completed and the vessel is currently undergoing testing before returning to service.
