The 17-day strike among Transnet workers, which has cost an estimated R7 billion according to BUSA, came to an end a short while ago (Thursday) when Satawu members endorsed their leaders' acceptance of an offer of an 11% increase by Transnet, plus an additional one-off payment.

As a result workers will report for duty as from tomorrow's first shifts at the country's ports and railways (Friday 28 May), brining to an end one of the longest and costliest labour disputes affecting the transport industry.
